The story follows Young Malakai Metellus Konrad (later known as Wheatley) who is used as a science experiment called “Athanasia" run by his Uncle Ridge Konrad and his father James Xavier Konrad. This process took the slaughtering of thousands of human lives and tampering with matter that humanity can’t even seem to comprehend. In the end, James meets an untimely death due to his choices and Law catches up to Ridge, jailing him. But the Madman later escapes to make a secret organization called Cereberus Industries: a company that meddles with the laws of nature through genetically altering experiments and Fringe science.

       Malakai (Wheatley), James’s son, was the only known person to survive the experiment, it is said to be because of his strong heart and ambitions, but the process was no easy feat. A later wise ageless man personifies the Athanasia project by saying “Athanasia chose you because she knew the boundaries of your soul”.  However, there was a classified case of another man surviving the process in the early 1900’s. Athanasia was started long before both Ridge and James were alive. The man who created the experiment’s name is Giovanni Heinz Hildeldorf, a German doctor and scientist who strangely pops up throughout different areas on the time line. Regardless, the first person who survived the process was Grigori Rasputin. This power corrupted him and it is the very reason that it was so hard to kill him when others attempted to assassinate him. (since it was the early stages of Athanasia, Rasputin finally died.) At this point Giovanni knew very well that Athanasia only promised the destruction of humanity, so he decided he should destroy it first. Unfortunately, later on, the Nazi party discovered Athanasia and ordered Gio to work for them.

       Giovanni tampered with the laws of creation, the universe, and darkness while making use of a rare and unknown element Malkresite to aid in the production of the experiment. There is not much known about this strange element, a single shard looks like a window into the universe. Inside it is not darkness, but what looks to be stars and galaxies. It also seems to live off the fabric of life, like a parasitic crystal that will grow if it feeds off organic materials; humans seem to give it the most nutrients. If it comes in contact with any type of blood, it will rip the entire being’s soul right from its body, just so the crystal can consume and grow. All they really know is this element seems to go after hearts, where a soul is believed to be housed. Either way, the use of this element allows Wheatley to become the epitome of the void and darkness, he becomes the very core of all Malkresite (which he later needs to absorb all shards of the element to protect humanity from the damage it reeks). This gives him the ability to weaponize and manipulate the void, which is very dangerous since he is harnessing the power that comes from the very element that allows everything to exist. It is darkness, and of course one would assume that light could overcome darkness, but it is not shadow, it is the darkness that surrounds planets and stars, the darkness that gives these things a plane to exist in. Without it, nothing would simply have the ability to exist. On top of this, he can take on the form of a dragon. This power seems to come from deep within his soul, the brightness inside him that allowed Athanasia to grant him powers. There are different types of souls, all of which are designated their own colors. Wheatley’s happens to be a tealish blue, a very rare soul type. It is said to be the soul of a protector or warrior, one who can either use its power to help or destroy. His soul is so bright that it can shine through his chest, this is referred to as a Soul Flare. Why is his soul so powerful? It’s because it is a soul of a dragon. (From here he has many different forms such as the shadow king, dragon king, demi-dragon, or a mixture of these. I’ll come up with cooler names eventually lol. He can also grow in size–it is mostly uncontrolled but at some points he can in fact control it). His new form is known as the Malkrekor. Although he is granted all these powers, he still keeps a great weakness: his emotions. His emotions and instability can easily be his downfall.

Wheatley’s Backstory:

       James Xavier was an abusive father and husband. He wished to train his son, Malakai, to become nothing but a corrupt soul; mostly because the powers given by Athanasia were induced by anger, stress, and fear. James did this in multiple ways. One of his favorite ways was to force Malakai to kill innocent animals with his bare hands. If Malakai disobeyed, then James said he would go hurt Malakai’s mother, Eleese Tibenotch, whom was very important to the boy. She was sick with cancer at the time and could barely fend for herself and James was the only one keeping her alive. Needless to say, the poor kid was traumatized and broken, but he always tried to keep a smile on his face, at least around others. Many times, James would yell Malakai’s name when he was furious with his son, or his son didn’t satisfy James Xavier’s expectations.  Because of this, Malakai grew to hate his name. It only reminded him of his father and all the things his father did to him. After his James’s and Eleese’s deaths , Malakai had the opportunity to leave his old life behind, he is able to invent a new identity. He renames his new persona “Wheatley” and he changed his last name to his mother's maiden name "Tibenotch". The origins behind this name has to do with his mother. When Malakai was little and dealing with his abusive father, his mother Eleese presented a small toy knight to her son. This knight was known as “Sir Alexander Wheatley” and Eleese told Malakai stories of Sir Wheatley’s adventures. Sir Wheatley was a brave courageous knight who cared about his kingdom’s people. He risked his life throughout countless adventures to keep the citizens’ lives safe. The knight even slayed the most malevolent of dragons that plagued the kingdom with destruction for centuries (This tale of Sir Wheatley and the dragon later bedevils Malakai throughout his life because he becomes a dragon who wreaks mass destruction). Whenever Malakai was scared, Eleese told him to be brave like Sir Wheatley. Malakai always looked up to this fictitious knight and henceforth changed his first name to Wheatley, last to Tibenotch in honor of his mother.

       The day Wheatley killed his father, due to being so fed up with all the abuse, was when the Malkrekor within him was finally born. Needless to say, James was satisfied. There was a "freak accident" which left their home in flames after a massive explosion. This burned all of James's work that managed to survive the explosion. Luckily, Wheatley got away with Eleese and they went to live a new life because "all the Konrads died in the freak accident", even though they knew that her remaining days were numbered. Eventually Eleese dies during another tramatizing event in Wheatley's life, it was the first time he turned into a dragon.
        Now Wheatley had lost absolutely everything, so this is when he decided to start fresh, leaving absolutely no evidence that Malakai Konrad could remotely be alive. At this point Wheatley decides to seek out Giovanni Heinz Hildeldorf, all of this was Giovanni's fault, so Wheatley wanted some answers. Along the way, he meets again with Lolani Keohana: his peer he knew since day one of school. Here they develop a love for each other and relationship to where Lolani assists Wheatley throughout the reawakening of his heart. 

       Giovanni Heinz Hildeldorf shows his face once more. Other than being a doctor, he is more specifically a Biophysicist, Bio-technologist, and Analytic chemist who works in the fields of evolution and genetic mutation and he’s an occasional time traveler. It is not known which time period he is actually from, but he was a Nazi doctor and scientist in WWII. The scientist could no longer face the guilt of hurting all these people so he turned against Hitler but this soon backfired.  

       Lastly there seems to be something odd about this trio: Wheatley, Ridge, and Giovanni. They house the same mannerisms; only two come from the same blood line, yet, everything seems to center around Giovanni. The old doctor has strange scars on his scalp where only white hair grows among his grey and this all has something to do with Wheatley’s instability and Ridge’s hunger for evil. Nonetheless, Wheatley got the worst out of this, whatever it is that links the trio, well, Wheatley’s mutated.
